THE BULGARIAN WATER ASSOCIATION (BWA) was founded in 2005 as a result of the merging of the Bulgarian Water Supply and Sewerage Association (BWSSA) and the Bulgarian National Association on Water Quality (BNAWQ).
Members of the Association are legal entities and natural persons working in the fields of water supply and sewerage, quality and treatment of drinking water, industrial, agricultural and domestic wastewater; management, preservation and utilization of water resources.
As of 1st October 2013 BWA has 125 corporate members (companies working in the field of water supply and sewerage services, as well as designing, construction and building, manufacturing, trading and other companies) and 314 individual members (experts with high professional qualification, most of them possessing academic degrees and ranks). In BWA a section of young professionals is established and students take part in its work as well.
BWA represents Bulgaria in the most eminent international branch organizations - ЕUREAU (European Federation of National Associations of Water Services), EWA (European Water Association), IWA (International Water Association), and maintains bilateral contacts with the respective branch organizations in a number of European countries.
BWA organizes and holds national and international seminars, work meetings and conferences. Through the Professional Training Centre, BWA organizes specialized courses for raising the qualifications in the field of water supply and sewerage. The Association issues the quarterly journal BULAQUA.

THE BULGARIAN ASSOCIATION FOR TRENCHLESS TECHNOLOGIES (BATT) was founded in 2007 with the purpose to support the development of the trenchless technologies in the country through their promotion on theory and in practice. BATT is the first full member of the International Society for Trenchless Technology ISTT on the Balkans. Since its establishment, BATT has taken active part in Bulgarian and international public events. Experts from the association have delivered their opinion to Bulgarian institutions and have taken part in work meetings with their teams. The newest products of Eco Project are large diameter pressure pipes. The latest project of the company is connected with the production of two and three-layer RC pipes, which are new for Bulgaria and Europe. PLASTEC is the most modern factory in Bulgaria for the production of high density polyethylene (PEHD) and polypropylene (PP) pipes for different applications.

INSTITUTE OF ROSES AND ESSENTIAL OIL CROPS: The beginning was initiated in 1907. Despite the numerous reorganizations, the Institute has grown from a small experimental field to a leading scientific unit in essential oil production. The idea for the creation of an experimental station of roses in the town of Kazanlak dates back to 1906. It was discussed during the First Conference on Rose Oil Production in Plovdiv and the following decision was made: "To ask the government to establish experimental fields where all issues connected with the cultivation of roses and other aromatic plants will be studied". In 1907 the Ministry of Commerce and Agriculture allocated 26 decares from the state fruit-tree nursery in Kazanlak to plant the oil-bearing roses and other aromatic plants brought from France. So under the management of Konstantin Malkov the scientific research work on roses and essential oil crops was started in Bulgaria. Following the extension of the experimental field in 1925, a meteorological station was built. In 1928 two modern distillation stills were installed. A laboratory was created to research diseases and pests on roses and essential oil crops. Library activities were initiated. A significant part of the Institute's activities is connected with the technology of processing essential oil and medical plants. The Institute of Roses and Essential Oil Crops has undergone a number of changes in its structure and research fields during it development. Nevertheless, it has remained the main centre for research, application, service and support in the field of essential oil and medical plants in Bulgaria. |
